Hugo H. Schulte, 87, of Belleville, IL, born Oct. 15, 1926 in Albers, IL, died Thursday, Mar. 13, 2014 at his residence.

Hugo retired from Stag Brewery in Belleville after 41 years; was a member of Holy Childhood Catholic Church in Mascoutah; Mascoutah Moose Lodge #815; and served in the U. S. Army. He enjoyed making wine, gardening, and farming.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Christine, nee Beckmann, Schulte; three brothers, Leo, Lawrence, and Joe Schulte; a sister, Alvina Albers; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ella Mae Voss, Lucille Karpel, Norbert Billhartz, Vernon Billhartz, Ralph Billhartz, and Carol Ann Billhartz.

He is survived by his wife, Arlene M., nee Billhartz, Schulte whom he married in Damiansville, IL on Nov. 28, 1950; five children, Michael (Linda) Schulte of Belleville, IL, Richard (Rena) Schulte of New Baden, IL, Stanley (D’Lisa) Schulte of New Baden, IL, Gerald (Sharon) Schulte of New Baden, IL, and Geralyn (Merle) Borrenpohl of Venedy, IL; 13 grandchildren, Kurt, Kristine, Kimberly, Bryan, Clent, Tamara, Ryan, Crystal, Matthew, Dana, Eric, Kyle, and Cheryl; nine great-grandchildren, Tristan, Olivia, Madisyn, Lexysse, Addysyne, Stella, Camille, Case, and Neve; five sisters, Clara (Robert) Kohrmann, Loretta Kudrona, Helen Tonnies, Dorothy (Norman) Wilke, and Alice (Leo) Speichenger; numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois, Inc.; or to any charity of the donor’s choice.

Visitation: visitation is from 4 to 9 PM Friday, Mar. 14, 2014 and from 8:30 to 10:30 AM Saturday, Mar. 15, 2014 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL.

Funeral: a funeral Mass will be held 11 AM Saturday, Mar. 15, 2014 at the Holy Childhood Catholic Church in Mascoutah with Father Dennis Voss officiating. Burial will be in Holy Childhood Catholic Cemetery, Mascoutah, IL.
