Bernice E. Moorleghen, nee Hoeffken, 93, of Mascoutah, IL, born Feb. 14, 1920 in Belleville, IL died, Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville, IL.
Bernice was a homemaker and formerly worked for Mascoutah School District 19 in the High School cafeteria. She was a member of Holy Childhood Catholic Church in Mascoutah, and the Holy Childhood Council of Catholic Women; she volunteered at the Mascoutah Food Pantry, St. Vincent de Paul thrift store, and Meals on Wheels.
She was preceded in death by her parents, August and Ida, nee Cordie, Hoeffken; her husband, Fred C. Moorleghen whom she married in Belleville, IL on July 9, 1941 and who died Apr. 13, 1988; two brothers, Emil (Leona) and Charles (Estelle) Hoeffken; six sisters, Cecilia (Harry) Bostick, Helen (Jacob) Herold, Olivia (Clem) Reeb, Leona (Arthur) Sprinz, Dorothy (Irvin) Biver, and Ruth (Lester) Schwab.
Bernice is survived by five children, Judy (Jim) Albrecht of Belleville, IL, Michael Moorleghen, Jean Moorleghen, Mary Kay (Allen) Richter, and Patricia (Gary) Spears all of Mascoutah, IL; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Holy Childhood Grade School Endowment Fund.
Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 PM Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah. A prayer service will be held at 4 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
Funeral: A funeral Mass will be held 10 AM Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013 at Holy Childhood Catholic Church with Fr. James Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Holy Childhood Catholic Cemetery, Mascoutah, IL.
