Sophie C. Emmerich

Sophie C. Emmerich, nee Winter, 96, of Mascoutah, IL, born Jan. 22, 1917 in New Athens, IL died Friday, Nov. 1, 2013 at MarKa Nursing Home in Mascoutah, IL.


She was a retired cook from the Mascoutah Community School District 19 and affiliated with St. John United Church of Christ., Mascoutah, IL.


She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Caroline, nee Schwebel, Winter, her husband, Wilmer G. Emmerich whom she married in Belleville, IL, May 21, 1939 and who died July 20, 1994, two brothers, Henry and Herman Winter and a sister, Margaret Erb.


She is survived by a son, George Emmerich of Mascoutah, IL; two sisters, Elizabeth Lunk of Freeburg, IL, Irene Kunkelmann of New Athens, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.


Memorials may be made to the Espenschied Chapel and received at the funeral home.


Visitation: Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL.


Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013 at Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL with the Rev. Hugh Fitz officiating. Burial will follow in Mascoutah City Cemetery, Mascoutah, IL.
