Anthony G. Greten, 87, of Lively Grove, IL, born July 17, 1926 in Lively Grove Township, IL, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013 at Kindred Hospital, St. Louis, MO.
Anthony was a retired civil service heavy equipment operator and retired farmer. He was a lifetime member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Lively Grove, IL and a WWII U.S. Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Theresa, nee Buss, Greten,
two sisters, Josephine Schmersahl and Marie Behrman and two brothers, Leo and Joseph Greten.
He is survived by four brothers, Urban (Mary Ann) Greten of St. Libory, IL Gilbert Greten of New Athens, IL, Lambert (Carolyn) Greten of Fairview Heights, IL, , and Jerome (Pat) Greten of Marissa, IL; a sister, Rita Pour of New Athens, IL; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association or in the form of masses.
Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013 at the Moll Funeral Home in St. Libory, IL. A prayer service will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Funeral: A funeral mass will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Lively Grove, IL with Fr. Paul Nwanegbo officiating. Burial will be in St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery.
