Robert Lee Wuebbels

Robert Lee “Bob” Wuebbels, 79, of New Baden, IL born Dec. 6, 1933 in Mascoutah Township, IL died Saturday Aug. 31, 2013 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville.


Bob was a retired farmer and retired auctioneer. From 1965 – 1999 he used his talent as an auctioneer to raise funds for numerous benefit auctions and also served as the past president of the Illinois Auctioneer Association. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Army as a deep sea diver at Newport News, VA. He was a member of American Legion Poelker Post #321, member of the New Baden Lions Club where he served as president and held other offices, but his favorite was serving as Tail Twister.


Since retiring, his favorite past-time was playing rummy with his friends at the Legion or Civic Center. He was never without a joke to tell someone, even in the hospital he entertained the nurses with his jokes.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Myrtle, nee Seibert, Wuebbels, Sr.; a brother, Joseph Wuebbels, Jr., a nephew, Jim Wuebbels and two sons-in-law, Steve Wagoner and Brad Kehrer.


Surviving are his wife, Olive “Ollie”, nee Brede, Wuebbels of New Baden, IL whom he married in Arkansas, Oct. 13, 1988; four children, Cheri (Ron) Albers, Judy (Carl) Ottensmeier, Steve Wuebbels and Peggy (Dale) Staley; two step-children, Stanley (Patricia) Haar and Tina (Charles) Litteken; seven grandchildren, Curt (Leah) Albers, Chris (Erin) Wagoner, Jamie (Eric) Henken, Mikaela Kehrer, Dustin (special friend, Samantha) Kehrer, Nicholas and Emily Ottensmeier; five step-grandchildren, Kathy Haar, John (Melissa) Haar, Kimberly (Joe Holley) Haar, Joseph Haar and Abby Litteken; seven great-grandchildren, Kale, Maxwell and Layna Albers, Colsen and Levi Wagoner, Zane and Zander Henken; six step-great-grandchildren, Isaac, Isabella, Kaleigh, Kearrah, Kaitlyn and Kristina Haar; mother of his children, Patricia Albers of Freeburg, IL; a brother, Dennis (Nancy) Wuebbels; two sisters, Marlene (Doug) Peters, Shirley (Ronald) Priest; sister-in-law, Lorraine Wuebbels; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and other relatives and friends.


Memorials may be given to American Legion Poelker Post #321 Building Fund, 105 East Illinois St., New Baden, IL 62265 or Family Hospice, 5110 West Main St., Belleville, IL 62226.


Funeral: Per Bob’s wishes, private family funeral services will be held. Entombment will be in Lake View Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
