Janette M. "Sue" Mcgowen

Janette M. “Sue” McGowen, 68, of Mascoutah, IL, born Dec. 17, 1944 in Pontiac, MI died Friday, June 7, 2013 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville.


She was a homemaker and member of Winstanley Baptist Church, Fairview Heights, IL.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Jewel and Vera, nee Pride, Beights; her husband, Dr. Sam H. McGowen whom she married in Puxico, MO on Aug. 27, 1988 and who died Nov. 21, 2012; a sister, Helen Kimes; a son-in-law, Clay McBurney, and a sister-in-law, Linda Stephens.


Surviving are her daughter, Bonnie McBurney of Auburn, AL; two grandsons, Ryan and Chadd McBurney of Auburn, AL; a brother, Larry Stephens of Clarkston, MI; a niece, Penny Kimes of St. Louis, MO; and dear friends, Angela (Terry) Hosford of Mascoutah, IL


In lieu of all other gifts, the family asks that you make a charitable donation to an organization or person in need. Sue spent her lifetime giving to others in need, so it would mean the world to her and the family if you would continue her tradition of blessing others.


Visitation: There will be no visitation.


Funeral: Private funeral services will be held with Dr. Steve Phillips officiating.
