Robert F. Recker

Robert F. Recker, 90, of Ava, IL formerly of St. Libory, IL, born Nov. 18, 1922 in St. Libory, IL, died Saturday, Mar. 23, 2013 at the Fairview Nursing Center,
Du Quoin, IL.


He was a contractor for 22 years and then worked out of the Carpenters Union Hall in Chester, IL until his retirement. He was a member of St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church in Ava, IL; and a WW II Army veteran.


Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Anna, nee Schmersahl, Recker; his wife, Myrtle, nee Kreiter, Recker who died on Aug. 20, 1995; three brothers, Albert, Ray, and Ralph Recker; four sisters, Marie Bingheim, Helen Recker, Lucille Mooney, and Vera Triefenbach; three grandsons, Scott Schuetz, Chad Matthews, and Joshua Matthews; and a great-grandson, Drew Lintker.

He is survived by five daughters, Sandy (Ralph) Buescher of St. Libory, IL, Kathy (Jeff) Barker of Du Quoin, IL, Claudia (Daniel) Lawrence of Ava, IL, Paulette (Don) Jolley of Chandler, AZ, and Becky (Pete) Just of Simpsonville, SC; 11 grandchildren, Shelly (Sam) Beelman, Wayne (Judy) Buescher, Keith (Lori) Buescher, Todd (Krista) Buescher, Jody (Brent) Grawe, Erik Schuetz, Jamie (Sarah) Nagel, Sherrie Nagel, Brandon Jolley, Jason (fiancé Cindy) Jolley, and Angie Matthews; 18 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Lucille Recker of Freeburg, IL; numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church, Ava, IL; or Fairview Nursing Center, Du Quoin, IL; or for Masses.


Visitation: visitation will be from 11 AM to 1 PM Wednesday, Mar. 27, 2013 at St. Liborius Catholic Church, St. Libory, IL.

Funeral: a funeral Mass will be held 1 PM Wednesday, Mar. 27, 2013 at St. Liborius Catholic Church with Father Leo Hayes and Deacon Andrew Lintker officiating. Interment will be in St. Liborius Catholic Cemetery.
