Marjorie J. Schmitt

November 4, 1937 — February 27, 2013

Marjorie J. Schmitt, nee Davis, 75, of St. Libory, IL, formerly of Mascoutah, IL, born Nov. 4, 1937 in Savannah, TN, died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Marjorie was a retired sales manager from Schmitt Printing Co. in St. Louis, MO. She was a member of Holy Childhood Catholic Church in Mascoutah, and the Holy Childhood Mothers Club. She was an avid gardener and quilter; a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Pearl, nee Bowling, Davis; her husband John F. “Smity” Schmitt whom she married in St. Louis, MO on April 27, 1957 and who died Feb. 20, 2012; two sisters, Hazel Davis and Virginia Bishop; and a brother, Marvin Davis.

Marjorie is survived by her daughters, Leslie (Steven) Jones of St. Libory, IL, and Teresa (Scott) Walsh of Okawville, IL; six grandchildren, Nathan (Trish) Grant, Nicholas (Nichole) Grant, Jerome Jones, Ryan (Chelsie) Stangle, Amanda Williamson, and Nicole Jones; eight great-grandchildren, Gage, Natalie, Nathan Jr., Hunter, Alyssa, Wyatt, Dylan, and Aiden; a brother, Charles Davis of Savannah, TN; a sister, Mary (Edward) Meyer of Niles, MI; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of all other gifts memorials may be made to the American Lung Assn.; Heartland Hospice; or the American Heart Assn.

Visitation: will be held from 1 to 5 PM Sunday, Mar. 3, 2013 at the Moll Funeral Home, Mascoutah, IL.


Funeral: memorial services will be held at 5 PM Sunday, Mar. 3, 2013 at Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah with Msgr. Jerome Hartlein officiating.
