Jeff (J. R.) Riess

Jeff (J. R.) Riess, 50, of Belleville, IL, born Feb. 16, 1962 in Belleville, IL, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Belleville, IL.

Jeff owned and operated Riess Ford in Marissa, IL and was an entrepreneur.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald W. Riess; and his father-in-law and mother-in=-law, Robert and Marilyn Hagen.

He is survived by his wife, Debra, nee Hagen, Riess who he married in New Athens, IL on Oct. 28, 1989; a son, Jeffrey B. Riess II of Belleville, IL; a daughter, Kati Riess of Charleston, SC; his mother, Jean, nee White, Riess of Marissa, IL; a brother, Wes Riess; sister-in-law, Pam (Jim) Shay of Naperville, IL; nephew, Thomas Shay of Moline, IL; two nieces, Laura Shay of Naperville, IL, and Kendall Riess of Lake St. Louis, MO; dear friends, Doug and Connie White and family of Marissa, IL; aunts, cousins, and numerous friends.

In lieu of all other gifts memorials may be made to Marissa Athletic Program, Marissa High School, 300 School View Dr., Marissa, IL 62257; or Belleville Area Humane Society, 1301 S. 11th Street, Belleville, IL 62223; or Mascoutah Food Pantry, P. O. Box 262, Mascoutah, IL 62258.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 9 PM Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013 at the Moll Funeral Home, Mascoutah, IL; and from 9 to 10:30 AM Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013 at St. John United Church of Christ, Mascoutah, IL.


Funeral: Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013 at St. John United Church of Christ with Rev. Donald Wagner officiating. Burial will be in Mascoutah City Cemetery, Mascoutah, IL.
