Vernon R. Carr, Sr., 87, of Mascoutah, IL, formerly of St. Louis, MO born June 15, 1925 in St. Louis, MO, died Tuesday Sept. 11, 2012, at Cedar Hurst in Shiloh, IL.
He was the retired owner and operator of E. J. Simmons Upholstery Co., Inc. in St. Louis, MO; a member of American Legion Post 58, Belleville; and a U. S. Navy WW II veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil B. and Mildred, nee Heacock, Carr, three sisters, Bonnie Pilgreen, Virginia Cummons, Ella Mataya and a brother, Ernest E. Carr.
Surviving are his children, Beverly A. Mitchell of Belleville, IL, Barbara (Thomas) Carr-Reuter of Mascoutah, IL, Vernon R. (Paula) Carr, Jr. of Belleville, IL, SMSgt., ret. Leo “Tony” (Ulrike) Carr of Panama City, FL, Patricia K. Carr of West Palm Beach, FL, Ronda Allen of St. Louis, MO; 15 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Edna (Joseph) Silvestri of Jackson, NJ and Darlie J. Brown of St. Louis, MO.
Memorials may be made to Alzheimer ’s Disease and Related Disorders Assn. or Heartland Hospice.
Visitation: friends may call from 4 to 8 PM Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL.
Funeral: funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday Sept. 17, 2012 at Moll Funeral Home, Mascoutah, IL with Chaplain Jason Vinson officiating. Burial will follow in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
