Emmaline "Emma" Dawson

Emmaline “Emma” Dawson, nee Harris, 91, of Mascoutah, IL, born June 28, 1921 in Willisville, IL, died Monday, Aug. 27, 2012 at Terrace on the Park in Mascoutah, IL.

Emma was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Mascoutah.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Dawson, whom she married July 8, 1939 and who died May 5, 1997, her grandparents who raised her, James (Anna) Harris, her father and step-mother, Walter (Charlotte) Harris, her mother and step-father, Velma (John) Klingle, three sisters, Jessie Diehl, Sue Proffitt, Archie Terry, two brothers, James and Thomas Harris, her mother-in-law, father-in-law, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.


Surviving are her children, Carrie (Paul) Knipp of Mascoutah, IL, Loretta (Charles) Etling, Sr. of New Baden, IL, Richard (Becky) Dawson, Sr. of Mascoutah, IL, Nancy Prance of Marietta, GA; eight grandchildren, Steve (Connie) Knipp of Mascoutah, IL, Mike Knipp of Fairview Heights, IL, Chip (Melinda) Etling of Mascoutah, IL, Kristin (fiancé Daniel Erdmann) Etling of Mascoutah, IL, Richard (fiancé Rhonda) Dawson, Jr. of Belleville, IL, Bradley (Suzanne) Dawson of Mascoutah, IL, Eric Dawson of Mascoutah, IL, Jason (Crystal) Prance of Atlanta, GA; 13 great grandchildren, Jacob (Katie) Knipp, Jordan Knipp, Taylor Knipp, Chas, Bryce, Grace and Myles Etling, Maddie Chapman, Trent Erdmann, Alex, Brandon and AuBree Dawson and Grady Prance; a great-great granddaughter, Kara Knipp; also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Visitation: will be held from 4 to 8 PM Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012 at the Moll Funeral Home, Mascoutah, IL, and from 9 to 10 AM Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Mascoutah, IL.


Funeral: funeral services will be held 10 AM Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Mascoutah with Pastor Duane Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Mascoutah City Cemetery, Mascoutah, IL.
