Donald G. Cameron, 81, of Mascoutah, IL, born Sept. 30, 1930 in Mt. Vernon, IN, died Thursday, July 26, 2012 at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL.
Don was a retired yardmaster from the C.S.X. Railroad and spent countless hours with his grandchildren fishing and woodworking. He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ, Mascoutah; Raccoon Ramblers Camping Club; a U. S. Army Korean War veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Marie, nee Redmon, Cameron, two sisters, Betty Tapp and Norma Cameron and two brothers Robert and Billy Cameron.
Surviving are his wife Thelma Jean, nee Mulvany, Cameron whom he married in Salem, IL on July 7, 1951; two daughters, Cathy (Alan) Monken of Overland Park, KS and Rhonda (John) Nunn of Lebanon, IL; four grandchildren, Robert (Amy) Nunn of Highland, IL, Joshua (Rachel) Monken of Clayton, MO, Jami (Duran) Geragosian of Aviston, IL, Jeremy Monken of Boston, MA; three great grandchildren, Landon and Drake Geragosian and Savannah Nunn; two aunts, Augusta Ashworth and Mary Russell, both of Mt. Vernon, IN.
Memorials may be made to St. John United Church of Christ or American Heart Association.
Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 PM Sunday, July 29, 2012 and Monday, July 30 from 10 to 11 AM at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Monday, July 30, 2012 at Moll Funeral Home with the Rev. Hugh Fitz officiating. Burial will follow with military honors in Mascoutah City Cemetery.
