Vincent John Walter, 75, of Mascoutah, IL, born August 16, 1932 in St. Rose, IL entered eternal rest on February 14, 2008 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL.

He was proceeded in death by his parents Karl and Verna, nee Voegele, Walter, his father-in-law Edgar Watschinger, mother-in-law Leola, nee Krausz, Watschinger, infant sister Dolores Walter, brothers, Delmar “Bucky” Walter and Anthony Walter, brothers-in-law, David Showalter, Roy Scott and Robert Watschinger.

He married Marlene, nee Watschinger, on June 6, 1956 at Holy Childhood Church in Mascoutah, IL. They were blessed with 51 years of marriage.
Vince was retired from the laborers Local 742 in Mascoutah, IL, Mascoutah School District #19, and maintenance of New Baden Estates. He also enjoyed his job as a pinsetter at the Mascoutah Bowling Lanes in his earlier years. He was a member of Holy Childhood Church, a Gold Card member of Local 742, a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post 7682 and a proud US Army Korean War veteran. He enjoyed bowling and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his beloved wife Marlene, nee Watschinger, Walter, daughters, Ruth Ann Walter, Valerie (Dean) Wombacher all of Mascoutah, IL, and Tanya (Jason) Richter of Troy, IL. The joys of his life were his grandchildren, Derrick and Courtney Wombacher, Hilary, Holly, Benjamin, Allison and Abigail Richter. Brothers, Victor (Carol) Walter and Charles Walter, sisters, Laurine Scott and Katherine Showalter, sister-in-law, Mary Ann Walter and many relatives and close friends.
A loving husband, a strong and caring father, a grandfather with a gentle touch, a brother and a friend who was loved so very much. He lived each day with gratitude for the days he had with us, although we had many, it just seems not enough. He left this place with a destination in mind, he was tired and it was time.

No one will ever replace him in our hearts or in our minds. But having him watch over us will be easier, you see, because he is in a better place than you or me. Rest in peace dear daddy with a smile on your face because you know you were so loved and no one will ever take your place.

Memorials were chosen in honor of his children. In honor of his daughter Ruth Ann memorials may be made to St. Clair Associated Vocational Enterprises Inc.(S.A.V.E.), in honor of his daughter Valerie the Mascoutah Fire Department and in honor of his daughter Tanya the American Cancer Society. Because of their exceptional care and compassion memorials may also be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
