Marie L. "Mickey" Erwin

November 30, 1923 — February 18, 2008

Marie L. “Mickey” Erwin, nee Schad, 84 of Mascoutah, IL, born Nov. 30, 1923 in Belleville, IL, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2008 at her residence.


She was a homemaker, and along with her husband, Bud, they owned and operated Erwin Buick in Mascoutah from 1954 to 2006. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, Mascoutah; Mascoutah Tuesday Women’s Club; Mascoutah Women of the Moose, Chapter 392; and was a stockholder in Tamarack Country Club since it’s origination in 1963. Mickey enjoyed reading, card playing, traveling, and going out to dinner with her friends.


“The memory of a good person is a blessing”.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Alois “Bud” Erwin whom she married in Belleville, IL on Nov. 20, 1941 and who died June 30, 2001; a son, Michael Erwin; parents, Fred and Emelia, nee Wagner, Schad; a brother and sister-in-law, Donald (Mary) Schad; and two brothers-in-law, Harvey Jung and Charles Cerneka.


She is survived by a daughter, Kimberly (Mick) Ganz of Okawville, IL; two grandchildren, Stacy (John) Stein of Mascoutah, IL, and Brandon (Michelle Minks) Ganz of Okawville; a great granddaughter, Emelia Stein; a sister, Eleanor Jung of Belleville, IL; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Cerneka of Belleville, IL; nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, a dear friend Gladys Griffin, and numerous other friends.


Memorials may be made to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, or the Mascoutah Public Library.


Visitation: will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008 and 7:30 to 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL.


Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah with Pastor Jason Woolever officiating. Entombment will be in Valhalla Gardens of Memory Mausoleum in Belleville, IL.
