Delores M. Schanz, nee Vahlkamp, 85, of Mascoutah, IL, born Mar. 2, 1923 in Engelmann Township, IL, died Friday, Mar. 14, 2008 at the Clinton Manor Living Center in New Baden, IL.
Delores was a homemaker and member of Holy Childhood Catholic Church in Mascoutah, IL, and the Holy Childhood Council of Catholic Women.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester H. Schanz, whom she married in Mascoutah, IL on Aug. 8, 1945, and who died March 12, 1989; a son, William; parents; Cornelius F. and Edmina J., nee Jung, Vahlkamp; a daughter-in-law, Gail Schanz; and two brothers, Adrien and Sylvester Vahlkamp.
She is survived by 5 sons, Donald (Christina) Schanz of Carlyle, IL, Paul (Cindy) Schanz of Mascoutah, IL, Charles (Laurie) Schanz of Smithton, IL, Richard (Cindi) Schanz of Mascoutah, IL, and Mark (Patti) Schanz of Mascoutah, IL; six daughters, Carol (Carl) Bell of Victoria, TX, Debbie (Roger) Scroggins of Mascoutah, IL, Barbara (Mark) Potts of Red Bud, IL, Nancy Barker of Belleville, IL, Sylvia (Joe) Seper of Shiloh, IL, and Janice (Gary) Gould of Belleville, IL; 26 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, James (Rosemary) Vahlkamp of Belleville, IL; and sister, Cornelia Fohne of Godfrey, IL.

Visitation: Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Mar. 16, 2008 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL. A Prayer Service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Funeral: A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Mar. 17, 2008 at Holy Childhood Catholic Church in Mascoutah, IL with Msgr. Jerome Hartlein officiating. Burial will be in Holy Childhood Catholic Cemetery in Mascoutah, IL.
