David D. Groves, 57, of Mt. Olive, IL, formerly of Mascoutah, IL, born in Charleston, WV on Nov. 8, 1950, died Thursday, Apr. 24, 2008 at his residence.
David was a retired Master Sergeant form the U. S. Air Force, a Vietnam War veteran, a purple heart recipient, and an avid ham radio operator.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dewey Groves.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma C. “Wende”, nee Harrison, Groves whom he married in Mascoutah, IL on July 25, 1998; his mother, Ruby May, nee Westfall, Groves of Crosslanes, WV; four sons, David D. Groves II and dear friend Kari M. Haas of O’Fallon, IL, Jason M. Waeltz of Mascoutah, IL, Richard A. (April) Sturgill of Fayetteville, IL, and Joshua M. Willmont and fiancé Sarah E. Sullivan of Fairview Heights, IL; five grandchildren and one on the way, Devon T. and Aaron M. Groves, Joshua A. and Noah A. Sturgill, and Abigail N. Willmont; two sisters, Barbara (Dennis) Miller of Southport, NC, and Donna (Bernie) Cochran of St. Albans, WV.

Visitation: will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday, Apr. 28, 2008 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL.
Funeral: Memorial services with full military honors will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Apr. 29, 2008 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL with USAF Chaplain Scott Savell, officiating.
