Eugene R. Hund

Eugene R. “Gene” Hund, 78, of Mascoutah, IL, born June 6, 1930 in Mascoutah, IL, died Sunday, July 27, 2008 at Aviston Countryside Manor in Aviston, IL.


He was retired from Monsanto; a member of Holy Childhood Catholic Church, Mascoutah; Hollow Point Club; and was an avid fisherman and card player.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin J. and Frances J. T., nee Moll, Hund; and two brothers and a sister-in-law, Paul (Elizabeth “Betty”) Hund, and James Hund.


He is survived by a brother, John (Mary B.) Hund of New Baden, IL; sister-in-law, Mary H. Hund of Springfield, IL; aunt, Violet Hund of Lebanon, IL; 15 nieces and nephews; 32 great nieces and nephews; six great great nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins and dear friends.


Memorials may be made to Holy Childhood Memorial Improvement Fund, or Shriner’s Hospital.


Visitation: Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p. m. Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL. A prayer service will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.


Funeral: A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at Holy Childhood Catholic Church in Mascoutah with Rev. Gene Neff officiating. Burial will be in Holy Childhood Catholic Cemetery, Mascoutah, IL.
