Robert J. Linkey, 70, of Nashville, IL, born Sept. 14, 1941 in St. Louis, MO, died Sunday, July 15, 2012 at Terrace on the Park, Mascoutah, IL.
He was a watch and clock repairman for 21 years at Scott AFB, IL, and was a Civil Service worker for USFMHA for 19 years before retiring. After his retirement, he ran a bait shop at the Washington County Lake for 5 years. He was a former member of St. Pancratius Catholic Church in Fayetteville, IL; and a former Fayetteville Volunteer fireman. Robert enjoyed fishing, bowling, golfing, and crafting poor man golf washer boxes.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert L. Linkey; his mother, Geraldine, nee Braun, Linkey Grayson; stepfather, Arthur Grayson; and two brothers, Donnie and Ray Linkey.
He is survived by his stepmother, Janet Linkey of Summerfield, IL; three children, Bridget (John) Carroll of Fredericktown, MO, Rodney (Melinda) Linkey of Nashville, IL, and Elizabeth (Grant) Wood of Waxahachie, TX; 15 grandchildren, Haley, Drew, Tyler, Cameron, Christian, Katlyn, Damon, Bryan, Ronnie, Trevor, Kylie, Allison, Joey, and Christopher; two sisters, Ruth (Max) Stroder of St. Libory, IL, and Cathy (Steve) Cheney of Mascoutah, IL; three stepsisters, Joy (Bruce) Scott of Paris, IL, Diane Nye of Keyesport, IL, and Janette (Brian) Grayson of Rockford, IL; a sister-in-law, Dawn Linkey of Venedy, IL; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
