A. Clay Mollman, 76, of St. Louis, MO, born Oct. 15, 1935 in St. Louis, MO, died June 29, 2012 in St. Louis, MO due to complications of Myelodysplasia, a bone marrow disorder.
Clay, who grew up in his family’s printing and publishing business in Millstadt, IL, retired from a career in the computer industry in 1990 and developed a second career as editor of the monthly magazines for the National Antique Oldsmobile Club and the Oldsmobile Club of America. He restored several prize-winning collector vintage Oldsmobiles and was a noted historian of the marque. He was an avid model railroader and toy train collector as well.
He attended grade schools in Belleville and Millstadt and graduated from Belleville Township High School. He received a bachelor’s degree and a Master of Business Administration degree from Washington University. After service in the Army in the late 1950’s, he served in the Army Reserves in Belleville in the 34th Artillery Battalion, 102nd Infantry Division as a captain.
He was active in city affairs in Ladue, MO and for many years he was chairman of the City of Ladue Zoning Board of Adjustment. He was formerly active in the First Unitarian Church of St. Louis where he served as president of the Board of Trustees. He also held several offices in the national Oldsmobile collector clubs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth J. and Maurine, nee Farrow, Mollman and his in-laws, Gustel and Edith Kiewitt.
Surviving are his wife, Cathryn “Kitty”, nee Kiewitt, Mollman; a son, John (Kimberly) Mollman of Seattle, WA; a daughter, Melanie Hancock of Brentwood, MO; a brother, Peter (Carol) Mollman of Carmel, CA; two grandchildren, Hadley and Soren; his beloved dog Digger; a niece, Sarah (Bob) Underhill; a nephew, Eric (Mary) Mollman and six grand nieces and nephews.

Funeral: A memorial service will be held 3 PM Sunday, July 29, 2012 at the Ethical Society, 9901 Clayton Rd., St. Louis, MO 63117. Interment in the Mascoutah City Cemetery will be private.
