Erma B. Sommers, nee Leadendecker, 78, of Mascoutah, IL, born May 29, 1930 in Oakdale, IL, died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008 at her residence.
Erma was a retired cafeteria cook from the Mascoutah Community High School, and a member of Holy Childhood Catholic Church in Mascoutah.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Augusta, nee Dintleman, Leadendecker, and a brother, John Leadendecker.
Mrs. Sommers is survived by her husband, Raymond J. Sommers whom she married in Okawville, IL on Nov. 22, 1951; six children, Dennis Sommers of St. Genevieve, MO, Tom (Lea) Sommers of St. Jacob, IL, Rodney (Patty) Sommers of Collinsville, IL, Bobby (Sue) Sommers of New Baden, IL, Theresa (special friend Derek Bobka) Sommers of Belleville, IL, and Terry Sommers of O’Fallon, IL; eight grandchildren, J. R. (Jamie) Lehosky, Jessica Lehosky, Justin (Stephanie) Barton, Alicia Barton, Jennifer (Nate) Yukna, Robert Sommers, Rachel Sommers, and Dawn Ward; seven great-grandchildren.; six sisters, Sister Annabelle Leadendecker of Flushings, NY, Mildred Luehr of Texas, Clara Luechtefeld of Mascoutah, IL, Genevieve Aholt of Okawville, IL, Lorene Schuette of St. Libory, IL, and Francis Buescher of Swansea, IL; a sister-in-law, Lucille Leadendecker of Okawville, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Holy Childhood Memorial Improvement Fund or for masses.
Visitation: friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, 2008 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL. A prayer service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Funeral: A funeral mass will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008 at Holy Childhood Catholic Church in Mascoutah, IL with Msgr. Jerome Hartlein officiating. Burial will be in Holy Childhood Catholic Cemetery, Mascoutah, IL.
