Kenneth O. Strate

Kenneth O. Strate, 65, of New Baden, IL, born Sept. 23, 1942 in Hoyleton, IL, died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2008 at his residence


He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lively Grove, IL, served in the U. S. Navy Special Forces, a Vietnam veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 233, Okawville, IL.


He was preceded in death by his parents, George J. and Olivia M., nee Moeller, Strate, three brothers, George, Englehard (Ben) and Curtis in infancy, a sister, Shirley Dunnigan, a half-brother, James Strate and a half-sister, Mary Phillipi.


He is survived by his wife, Brenda J., nee Albers, Strate whom he married in Nashville, IL on July 8, 1987; three daughters, Cheryl (Thomas) Holly of Washburn, WI, Barbara (Alan) Mazza of Valley Streams, NY, Anna Strate and dear friend Jim Keenan of Dowling Park, FL; two sons, Adam (Tiffany) Budde of Breese, IL, Michael Strate of New Baden, IL; five grandchildren, Megan and Matthew Mazza and Skyley and Parker Budde and Joseph M. Bartolini; four sisters, Rosie Cameron of Ashley, IL, Georgine Fields of Centralia, IL, Florence Going of Okawville, IL, Maxine (James) Laughlin of Okawville, IL; two brothers, Harry Strate of Okawville, IL, Charles (Jerri) Strate of New Baden, IL; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Walter and Viola Albers of Lively Grove, IL; two brothers-in-law, Wayne (Laurie) Albers of Okawville, IL and Kevin (Melinda) Albers of Okawville, IL; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.


Memorials may be given to the family’s choice.


Visitation: Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p. m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008 at the Moll Funeral Home in St. Libory, IL. A prayer service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.


Funeral: A funeral mass will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lively Grove, IL with Rev. Dennis Voss officiating. Burial will be in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery, Lively Grove, IL.
