Evelyn T. Shoup, nee Alberternst, 87, of Mascoutah, IL, formerly of Trenton, IL, born Oct. 24, 1920 in St. Rose, IL, died Thursday, September 25, 2008 at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL.
Evelyn was a retired nurse’s aide from the Grange Nursing Home in Mascoutah. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Trenton, IL, Trenton VFW Auxiliary Post 7983, and Royal Neighbors of America.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Elizabeth, nee Henrichs, Alberternst; her husband, Edmund Shoup whom she married in Old Monroe, MO on Aug. 1, 1942 and who died Dec. 1, 1981; three sisters, Mary Tate, Irene Crepps, and Stella Korte; and a brother Elmer Alberternst.
She is survived by a son Kenneth (Joanie) Shoup of Mascoutah, IL, a daughter, Joann (Don) Dinkelkamp of Ballwin, MO; three grandchildren, Erica Shoup of Mascoutah, IL, Brad Dinkelkamp of Florissant, MO, and Keith (Jasonia) Dinkelkamp of Fenton, MO; four great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; two step-grandchildren; four step-great grandchildren; a brother, Joseph Alberternst of Trenton, IL; two sisters, Lucille Lewis of Trenton, IL, and Eleanor Trost of New Baden, IL; nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
Visitation: friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008 at the Moll Funeral Home, Mascoutah, IL.
Funeral: a funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 29, 2008 at Holy Childhood Catholic Church in Mascoutah, IL with Msgr. Jerome Hartlein officiating. Burial will be in Mascoutah City Cemetery.
