Norman J. Siegel, 83, of Mascoutah, IL, born Oct. 31, 1924 in O’Fallon Twp., IL, died Thursday, Oct. 9, 2008 at his residence.


He was a grain farmer, a member of Holy Childhood Catholic Church, Mascoutah, IL, Holy Name Society and St. Clair County Farm Bureau.


He was preceded in death by his daughter, Helen Thouvenot, his son Jerome Siegel, his parents, George W. and Anna, nee Fellner, Siegel, six brothers, Earl, Ed, Paul and Larry Siegel and Bernard and Henry Schwaegel, a sister, Erna Siegel and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.


He is survived by his wife, Cecilia O., nee Haas, Siegel whom he married in Mascoutah, IL May 11, 1948, daughters and sons, Rose Mary (George) Wilkerson of Fillmore, IL, James (Catherine) Siegel of Mascoutah, IL, Ann Marie (Mike) Pace of Mascoutah, IL, Carol (Jeff) Winter of Belleville, IL, Ruth Siegel of Tacoma, WA, Gerald (Jill) Siegel of Mascoutah, IL; son-in-law, Ken (Carole) Thouvenot of O’Fallon, IL; 23 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, George Siegel of Harrison, NY, Joe (Theresa) Siegel of Mascoutah, IL; five sisters, Regine Fournie of Belleville, IL, Pauline Holdener of Fairview Heights, IL, Lucy Weissert of Swansea, IL, Rita Haukapp of Trenton, IL, Marian (Stanley) Bossler of Shiloh, IL; two sisters-in-law, Mary Schwaegel of Collinsville, IL and Mildred Fellin of Englewood, FL; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.


Memorials may be made to Holy Childhood School.


Visitation: Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p. m. Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL. A prayer service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.


Funeral: A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 13, 2008 at Holy Childhood Catholic Church in Mascoutah with Msgr. Jerome Hartlein officiating. Burial will be in Holy Childhood Catholic Cemetery, Mascoutah, IL.
