Gustav C. Lanter

Gustav C. Lanter, 98, of Trenton, IL, formerly of Mascoutah, IL, born Oct. 28, 1913 in Mascoutah, IL, died Friday, June 22, 2012 at his residence.

Gustav was a farmer and worked as custodian for Mascoutah School District 19; and was a life-long member of Holy childhood of Jesus Catholic Church in Mascoutah, IL.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Irene N., nee Schildknecht, Lanter who he married in Mascoutah, IL on May 12, 1942, and who died Oct. 17, 1993; his parents, Edward P. and Louise, nee Haas, Lanter; three brothers, Frank, Arthur, and Herbert Lanter; four sisters, Melinda Steinberg, Amelia Thomas, Bertha Jung, and Mary Augustine.

He is survived by a son, Vernon (Beverly) Lanter of St. Charles, MO; three daughters, Diane (Daniel) Diveney of Trenton, IL, Shirley (Steven) Zapf of Cicero, IN, and Jane (Bob) Meacham of Reddick, FL; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great great-grandchild; a brother, Cletus Lanter of Arcata, CA; sister-in-law, Ethel File of Greenville, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Holy Childhood Memorial Improvement Fund. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting mollfuneralhome.com.

Visitation:  Friends may call from 4 to 8 PM Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL. There will be a prayer service at 3:45 PM Wednesday.

Funeral:  A funeral mass will be held 10 AM Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Holy Childhood of Jesus Catholic Church with the Rev. Dennis Voss officiating.  Burial will be in Holy Childhood Catholic Cemetery, Mascoutah, IL.
