Laurie A. Schanz

Laurie A. Schanz, nee Barton, 56, of Smithton, IL, born Jan. 31, 1952 in Manistique, MI, died Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008 at her residence.


Laurie worked in the loan department at FCB Bank at West Main in Belleville. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church in Smithton, IL.


Laurie was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Sylvester and Delores Schanz.


She is survived by her husband, Charles A. Schanz who she married in Belleville, IL on June 8, 1972; her children, Joseph Schanz of Huntington Beach, CA, and Jill (Matt) Kerver of Belleville, IL; her parents, Harold and Betty, nee Chernesky, Barton of Smithton, IL; a brother, Michael (Deborah) Barton of Belleville, IL; a sister, Jody (David) Wente of Glen Carbon, IL, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Visitation: friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, 2008 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL. There will be a prayer service at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.


Funeral: a funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 27, 2008 at Holy Childhood Catholic Church in Mascoutah, IL with Msgr. Jerome Hartlein officiating. Burial will be in Holy Childhood Catholic Cemetery in Mascoutah.
