Eileen K. Holcomb, nee Rehbein, 88 of Coulterville, IL formerly of Fayetteville, IL, born May 7, 1920 in St. Louis, MO, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008 at Sparta Community Hospital.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mascoutah. Eileen was more than a homemaker, she was a devoted wife, a wonderful Christian mother, grandmother and big sister. Her passion in life was to care for family friends and community, unselfishly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur “Bo” Holcomb whom she married Oct. 29, 1938 in St. Louis, MO and who died Nov. 6, 2002, two sons, Lane Roger Holcomb, Sr. and Gary Lee Holcomb, her parents, Henry C. and Martha, nee Hughes, Rehbein, Sr., two brothers, William and Henry Rehbein, a sister, Marjorie Odem, a brother-in-law, William Odem and a sister-in-law, Wanda DeRousse.
She is survived by two daughters, Rona Jane (Richard) Barkau of Freeburg, IL and Joni Lynn (John) Boman of Coulterville, IL; seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; five brothers, Kenneth (Betty) Rehbein of Spanish Lake, MO, Robert (Lois) Rehbein of St. Louis, MO, Donald (Zua) Rehbein of Belleville, IL, Allen (Lyla) Rehbein of O’Fallon, IL, Carlyn (LaVerne) Rehbein of Mascoutah, IL; a sister-in-law, Lola Rehbein of Mascoutah, IL; a brother-in-law, Edmund DeRousse of Millstadt, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois, Inc. or Alzheimer’s Association.
Visitation: friends may call from 4 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL.
Funeral: a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 14, at Moll Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Crownover officiating. Burial will be in Mascoutah City Cemetery.
