Mary Ellen Lake

Mary Ellen Lake, nee Habrock, 77, of Lively Grove, IL, born Dec. 19, 1930 in St. Libory, IL, died Dec. 12, 2008 at Lively Grove, IL.


Mrs. Lake was a homemaker, a loving grandmother, and an avid quilter. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Lively Grove, IL, and St. Anthony’s Ladies Sodality.


She is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert G. Lake whom she married in St. Libory, IL on Sept. 12, 1951, and who died May 11, 1996; her parents, Herman and Elizabeth, nee Arling, Habrock; three brothers, Elmer, Herman Jr., and Harold Habrock; and a sister, Lorraine Habrock.


She is survived by four daughters, Diane (Donald Gene) Lange of Addieville, IL, Carol (Paul) Maddock of St. Louis, MO, Linda (John) Steinway of St. Louis, MO, Michelle (Matt) Keech of Morton, IL; two sons, David (Ruth) Lake of Lively Grove, IL, and Dale (Mary Lou) Lake of Lively Grove, IL; grandchildren, Tara Lange, Kelly (Brian) George, Joseph Lange and fiancé Bridget Ramano, Patrick and Brendan Steinway, Paul Andrew Maddock II, Jenna, Jaci, Janel, Jolyn, Sam, Stephen, and Jackson Lake, and Cooper Keech; a sister, Hilda Millman of Red Bud, IL; sisters-in-law, Dorothy and Sandy Habrock; a special nephew, Melvin (Sue) Tucker of Jackson, WY; and other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.


Memorials may be made to Poor Clare Monastery of Our Lady of Mercy, 300 N. 60th St., Belleville, IL 62223; or in the form of masses.


Visitation: friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008 and from 8 to 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 15, 2008 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Lively Grove, IL. A recitation of the rosary will be said at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the church.


Funeral: a funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 15, 2008 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Lively Grove, IL with the Rev. Dennis Voss officiating. Burial will be in St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery.
