Allen E. "Ducks" Hoerdt

Allen E. “Ducks” Hoerdt, 97, of Mascoutah, IL, born June 2, 1911 in Mascoutah, IL, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008 at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL.


Ducks was a retired carpenter from Local Union #480 where he was a member for 60 years. He was a member of Holy Childhood Catholic Church, Mascoutah; a lifetime and founding member of Mascoutah Sportsman’s Club; member of the Mascoutah Historical Society; Mascoutah Senior Citizens; and Catholic Fraternal Life.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth I., nee Bramstedt, Hoerdt whom he married in Mascoutah, IL on Nov. 23, 1939 and who died May 2, 1997; his parents, Edmund G. and Theresa M., nee Fietsam, Hoerdt; and a sister, Caroline Wombacher.


He is survived by his three daughters, Patricia (Weldon) Tallant of Belleville, IL, Kathleen Puleo of St. Charles, IL, and Mary (Dennis) Mensinger of Freeburg, IL;
10 grandchildren, Lisa Talley, Leslie Tod, Diana (Erin) Kirkeeng, Matthew (Marla) Talley, John Talley, Eric (Robin) Puleo, Jill Puleo, Phillip (Jessica) Puleo, Brian Mensinger, and Abigail (Chad) Justice; four great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren, Russell and Brian Tallant; two sisters, Edna Heimann of Mascoutah, IL and Helen Moorleghen of Arlington, VA; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Visitation: friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, 2008 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL. A prayer service will be held at 5 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.


Funeral: a funeral mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008 at Holy Childhood Catholic Church in Mascoutah, IL with Msgr. Jerome Hartlein officiating. Burial will be in Holy Childhood Catholic Cemetery in Mascoutah.
