Everett L. "Smitty" Smith

Everett L. “Smitty” Smith, 69, of Mascoutah, IL, born June 12, 1939 in Elkhart County, IN, died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2008 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville, IL.


Mr. Smith was a retired Tech. Sgt. for the U. S. Air Force after 23 years of service and also a retired civil service employee from Defense Information Technology Contracting Office (DITCO) at Scott AFB after 25 years of service. He was a U. S. Air Force Vietnam veteran, a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post 7682, Mascoutah and Mascoutah Moose Lodge 815.


He was preceded in death by his son, Ronnie Shaw and his parents, Claud and Pauline, nee Knight, Smith.


He is survived by his wife, Frances A., nee Chandler, Smith, whom he married Jan. 24, 1970 in Elkhart, IN; two daughters, Jewel (Craig) Sherman of Canada, Karen Wilson of Russell AR; a son, Kim Robert Shaw of Mascoutah, IL; six grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a loving companion, toy poodle, Ginger.


Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.


Visitation: friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL.


Funeral: funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 29, 2008 at Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL with Pastor Duane Smith officiating. Burial will be in Mascoutah City Cemetery.
