Jerome V. Wienstroer, 82, of St. Libory, IL, born, Feb. 3, 1926 in Lively Grove, IL, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009 at Freeburg Care Center, Freeburg, IL.
Mr. Wienstroer was a retired grocery clerk. He worked at Luechtefeld’s Store in Lively Grove from 1951 to 1952 and then at Wennemann’s Store in St. Libory from 1952 to 1987. He began working for Tom’s Supermarket in Mascoutah and Freeburg in 1987 until his retirement in 1999.
He was a member of St. Liborius Catholic Church, St. Libory; Catholic Holy Family Society; American Legion Post 683, St. Libory; former adjutant for American Legion Post 683 for 40 years; Commercial Club, St. Libory; former Fayetteville Township Clerk and a WW II Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Josephine, nee Behrman, Wienstroer; four brothers, Harry, Alfred, Joseph, and Norbert Wienstroer in infancy; a sister, Elvira Behrmann; six brothers-in-law, Andrew Behrmann, Peter Jennetten, Henry Kramper, Raphael Lintker, Clarence Sandheinrich, Cyril Sommer, and a sister-in-law, Alberta Wienstroer.
He is survived by his wife, Edna M., nee Sandheinrich, Wienstroer, whom he married in St. Libory, IL on May 18, 1949; a brother, Herbert (Lorraine) Wienstroer of Belleville, IL; four sisters, Marie Jennetten of Peoria, IL, Henrietta Kramper of Lively Grove, IL, Irmalinda Lintker of St. Libory, IL, and Betty Ann (Thomas) Norrenberns of Mascoutah, IL; sisters-in-law, Gloria Wienstroer of St. Louis, MO, Annette Wienstroer of St. Louis, MO, Dorothy Sandheinrich of St. Libory, IL, Ruth Sommer of St. Libory, IL, Grace Smith of Cleveland, OH, a brother-in-law, Ralph (Doris) Sandheinrich of St. Libory, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to St. Liborius Church or in the form of Masses.
Visitation: friends may call from 4 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009 at the Moll Funeral Home in St. Libory, IL. There will be a recitation of the rosary 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Funeral: a funeral mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009 at St. Liborius Catholic Church in St. Libory, IL with Rev. Dennis Voss officiating. Burial will be in St. Liborius Catholic Cemetery.
