Arthur J. Friederich, Sr., 80, of Mascoutah, IL, born Mar. 22, 1928 in Mascoutah, IL, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009 at his residence.
Mr. Friederich was a retired mail carrier from the Mascoutah Postal Service; he was a member of Holy Childhood Catholic Church, Mascoutah, K of C Council 4380, Mascoutah VFW Post 7682, Mascoutah American Legion Post 292, Mascoutah Moose Lodge 815, Korean War Veterans Assn. Imjin Chapter of O’Fallon, IL, AARP, NALC, the Belleville Museum of Industrial Arts, and a U. S. Army Korean War veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur M. and Anna A., nee Haas, Friederich; a brother, Eugene Friederich; and three sisters, Eugenia Embry, Irma Angell, and Elvira Alexander.
He is survived by his wife, Helen B., nee Stumbaugh, Friederich, whom he married in St. Louis, MO on July 24, 1954; a son, Arthur J. Jr. (Dianne) Friederich of McLeansboro, IL, a daughter, Rhonda (David) Hillebrand of Havre de Grace, MD; five grandchildren, Sarah (Brian) Blades, Kelly and Eric Friederich, Robert and Jeffrey Hillebrand; a great grandson, Kaden Blades; four sisters, Marcella “Sally” Colone of Collinsville, IL, Dorothy Saric of Belleville, IL, Carmelita Bauer of Troy, IL, and Ann Nevenner of Goldsboro, NC; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Holy Childhood School or for masses.
Visitation: Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:50 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009 at Holy Childhood Catholic Church in Mascoutah, IL.
Funeral: A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009 at Holy Childhood Catholic Church with Msgr. Jerome Hartlein officiating. Burial will be in Holy Childhood Catholic Cemetery, Mascoutah, IL.
