William A. Boker, Sr.

William A. Boker, Sr., 80 of Shiloh, IL, born Jan. 29, 1929 in Granite City, IL, died Sunday, June 28, 2009 at his residence.


Bill was retired from Wiese Planning and Engineering in Sauget, IL on Dec. 27, 1991. He was honorably discharged from the U. S. Air Force in 1952. He was a member of the Elks Lodge 1063 of Granite City, Mascoutah Moose Lodge 815, he served on the Fairview Heights Volunteer Fire Department, and he was on the Shiloh Village Board of Trustees for 16 years before retiring in April 2003. Bill was an avid golfer and was especially proud of his six hole-in-ones.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Alonzo and Elsie, nee Llewellyn, Boker; and a brother Robert Boker.


He is survived by his wife, Scheron L., nee Kilian, Boker whom he married in O’Fallon, IL on March 2, 1980; four children, William A. (Pam) Boker, Jr. of Shiloh, IL, Connie Boker of Phoenix, AZ; Colleen (Clay) Powers of Shiloh, IL, and Douglas (Jill) Boker of Shiloh, IL; two stepsons, Steven Thompson of Mascoutah, IL, and Scott (Bonnie) Thompson of Bulan, KY; grandchildren, Billy, Emily and Christopher Boker, Justin, Ryan and Sarah Powers, Derek Snow, Kelling and Sabrina Boker; step-grandchildren, Tiana Evans, Jared Nell, Caylen and Carrie Thompson, Andrew (Sarah) Thompson, Amy (Tim) Komrska, and Kyle Thompson; two step-great grandsons; two sisters, Ruth Randall of Glen Carbon, IL, Harriet (Robert) Glasgow of Granite City, IL, three brothers, Thomas (Fern) Boker of Granite City, IL, John (DeDe) Boker of Christopher, IL, and Clifford (Pat) Boker of House Springs, MO; numerous nieces and nephews.


The family sincerely thanks the staff of Family Hospice, especially the nurses who took such good care of Bill.

Visitation: Friends may call from 10 to 11 AM Saturday, July 11, 2009 at St. John United Church of Christ in Mascoutah, IL.


Funeral: A memorial service will be held at 11 AM Saturday, July 11, 2009 at St. John United Church of Christ with the Rev. Hugh Fitz officiating. Burial will be in Mascoutah City Cemetery.
