Darrell L. Surmeier

Darrell L. Surmeier, 41, of St. Libory, IL, born March 29, 1968 in Belleville, IL, died Saturday, July 11, 2009 at his residence.


He was a union sheet metal worker for 20 years currently working for Hock Mechanical.


He was a member of St. Liborius Catholic Church, St. Libory, Sons of American Legion Post 683, St. Libory, board member of Just Us Kids Day Care, St. Libory and member of Sheet Metal Workers Local 268.


Darrell was preceded in death by his father, Ralph T. Surmeier, his grandparents, Ben and Emma Surmeier and Antoinette Sommer and a cousin, Steve Surmeier.


He is survived by his mother, Eileen, nee Sommer, Surmeier of St. Libory, IL; three sisters, Lynn (Dave) McCammon of Naperville, IL, Michelle (Tim) Ryan of Shiloh, IL and Sara (Jim) Rockaway, Jr. of Atlanta, GA; nieces and nephews, Ben, Emily and Jack McCammon, Connor, Daniel and Meghan Ryan, Ben, Jake and Sam Rockaway; maternal grandfather, Lawrence Sommer; aunts and uncles, Andy (Dorothy) Surmeier, Ray (Sue) Sommer, Gerry (Betty) Sommer, Jim (Jackie) Sommer, Jane Beimfohr and Geralyn (Jim) Hollis; also survived by many cousins and friends.


Memorials may be made to St. Liborius Church or St. Libory Volunteer Fire Department First Responders.


Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2009 and from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at the Moll Funeral Home in St. Libory, IL.


Funeral: A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday July 15, 2009 at St. Liborius Catholic Church with Rev. Dennis Voss officiating. Burial will be in St. Liborius Catholic Cemetery.
