Harold D. Derousse

Harold D. DeRousse, 87, of Mascoutah, IL, born July 9, 1922 in Modoc, IL, died Saturday, July 18, 2009 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Belleville, IL.


While he was a lifelong resident of Mascoutah, the past year he resided at the Bradford Place in Swansea where he left behind many dear friends. His family is extremely grateful for the loving care he received there.


Harold was a retired firefighter from Scott AFB, IL, member of DAV, a WW II Army veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett J. and Gladys V., nee Hall, DeRousse; his wife, Rita A., nee Haar, DeRousse whom he married in St. Genevieve, MO on Nov. 22, 1943 and who died Aug. 4, 2001, and a brother, Vernon DeRousse.


He is survived by three children, Michael (Sandy) DeRousse of Santa Barbara, CA, Brenda (Roland) Hassebrock of Manassas Park, VA, David (Jean) DeRousse of W. Monroe, LA; six grandchildren, Brian (Sara) DeRousse, Lisa (Scott) Walters, Douglas (Lia) Hassebrock, Melinda (Alfred) Pamatigan, Shannon (Shane) Pittard, and Emily DeRousse; seven great-grandchildren, Sasha DeRousse, Addison and Cameron Walters, Ava and Charlotte Hassebrock, Brock Kealoha Pamatigan, and Shepard Pittard; one brother, Edmond DeRousse of Millstadt, IL; three sisters, Virginia (Carlos) Tobar of Columbia, IL, Nadine (Gene) Garove of Pensacola, FL, and Beulah Schachtschneider of Waukesha, WI; sisters-in-law, Jan DeRousse of Caldwell, ID, Marie Weber of St. Louis, MO, Ann Haar of Ashland, MI, Shirley Haar of Alton, IL, Bonnie Haar of New Baden, IL, and Ruth (Mel) Binger of Caseyville, IL; numerous nieces and nephews.


Memorials may be made to Holy Childhood Memorial Improvement Fund, or to Disabled American Veterans (DAV).


Visitation: Friends may call from 5 to 8 PM Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL.


Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Thursday, July 23, 2009 at the Moll Funeral Home with Deacon Andrew Lintker officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
