Floyd E. Schlichter

Floyd E. Schlichter, 83, of Mascoutah, IL, born Oct. 29, 1925 in Engelmann Township, IL, died Friday Aug. 28, 2009 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Belleville, IL.


Floyd was a retired St. Clair County Highway Department operating engineer and farmer.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter A. and Hilda, nee Dickhaut, Schlichter and three brothers, Wilmer, Mearl and Olyn Schlichter.


He is survived by his wife, Eleanore E., nee Schwalb, Schlichter whom he married Sept. 8, 1945; two sons, Donald (Mary Jane) Schlichter of Edwardsville, IL and Jim (Brenda) Schlichter of High Ridge, MO; five grandchildren, Denise Wright, Frederick (Lin) Schlichter, Regina (Richard) Schaefer, Angela (David) Tanner and Tim (Jamie) Schlichter; eight great-grandchildren, Austin, Brady and Taylor Schaefer, Luke and Logan Tanner and Emily, Caroline, and Elisabeth Schlichter; also survived by sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.


In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Grange Nursing Home.


Visitation: friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL.


Funeral: a funeral service will be held 8:00 PM Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009 at Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah. According to Floyd’s wishes his body will be cremated.
