Joan M. Griffin, nee Bray, 76, of Mascoutah, IL, born Oct. 9, 1932 in Providence, RI, died Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Belleville, IL.
Joan was a homemaker, an avid bowler, and a member of Holy Childhood Church, Mascoutah. She enjoyed her grandchildren and also her beloved dog, Oreo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James V. and Alyce, nee O’Neil, Bray, her husband, ret. CMSgt. Francis A. Griffin, Jr. whom she married in Warwick, RI Sept. 20, 1952 and who died June 22, 2002, an infant son, Martin Griffin, a son-in-law, David Lidisky, two brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by three sons, Francis A. (Geri) Griffin III of Manchester, CT, Stephen (Kelly) Griffin of O’Fallon, IL and Mark (Ann) Griffin of Maryland Heights, MO; two daughters, Cheryl Lidisky of Mascoutah, IL and Michele (Kevin) Renth of Mascoutah, IL; 12 grandchildren, Kelly (Tom) Dietrich, Zac, Jennifer (Joe) Ibatuemoli, Zack, Megan, Maggie, Rose, Collin, Ryan, Allison, Sydney and Justin; and a great granddaughter, Isabella.
Memorials may be made to Holy Childhood School.
Visitation: Friends may call from 5 to 8 PM Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL.
Funeral: A funeral service will be held at 10 AM Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009 at Moll Funeral Home with Michael Inyart officiating. Burial will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
