William R. “Bill” Barttelbort, 55, of Mascoutah, IL, born Nov. 23, 1953 in Belleville, IL, died Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009 at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL.
Mr. Barttelbort was a Food Service Director at Memorial Hospital in Belleville where he was employed for 36 years. Bill enjoyed playing music with his friends for 35 years throughout the Metro East area. He performed with “The Chris Tally Trio”, “The Light Stepping Boys” and “The Buckeyes”. Bill loved his “Martin” guitars and bluegrass music. He was very talented with his flat picking abilities and a great vocalist. Bill was very dedicated, loyal and faithful to his work, music, family and friends. Bill was a loving, caring and dear husband, father and friend. Bill dearly loved his “baby girl”, Nestle.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn L., nee Klein, Barttelbort whom he married in Paderborn, IL on June 2, 1979, a son, Robert “Rob” Barttelbort of Philadelphia, PA; a daughter, Jody (Jamie) Schanz of Mascoutah, IL; 2 grandchildren, Jacob and Jenna Schanz; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Valeda (Ermin) Brinkmann of Waterloo, IL; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ray (Maren) Klein, Bonnie (Terry) Uebinger, and Jayne (Rick) Arensman; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, William A. and Ruth, nee McCullough, Barttelbort, a brother, Mark Barttelbort and his father-in-law, Theodore Klein.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Memorial Hospital Foundation or Barttelbort Family Education Fund.
Visitation: friends may call from 4 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL.
Funeral: private graveside services will be held at Shiloh Valley Township Cemetery.
