Dorothy L. Rodgers, nee Halley, 80 of Mascoutah, IL, born April 3, 1929 in Mitchell, MO, died Thursday, March 11, 2010 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville, IL.
Dorothy was formerly employed as a medical stenographer at Farmington State Hospital and a member of the Mascoutah First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Diana Swain Winch, a son, Johnny Swain, a grandson, Robert Whitaker, her parents, John F. and Myrtle M., nee Pettus, Halley, a brother, Alan Halley and a sister, Nina Saffell.
She is survived by her husband, John F. Rodgers, whom she married in Flat River, MO June 27, 1969, two sons, James (Lisa) McMillan, Jr. of Bonne Terre, MO and James Rodgers; a daughter, Melinda Howard of Herrin, IL; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Alvin (Glenda) Halley of Bellevue, NE; two sisters, Lucille Duckett and Ruby House, both of Bonne Terre, MO; a brother-in-law, William Saffell of Bonne Terre, MO; sisters-in-law, Grace Ann (Warren) Gibson of Foristell, MO and Emma Lou Wessel of O’Fallon, MO; and nieces and nephews
Memorials may be made to Mascoutah First Baptist Church.
Visitation: from 4 to 8 PM Sunday, March 14, 2010 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL and Monday, March 15 from 11 AM to 12 noon at the church.
Funeral: funeral services will be held 12 noon Monday, March 15, 2010 at Mascoutah First Baptist Church with Pastor Duane Smith officiating. Burial will be in the National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
