Lillian Rose Collier, nee Rezba, 91, of Mascoutah, IL, born June 14, 1918 in Elkton, IL, died Wednesday, Mar. 24, 2010 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Belleville, IL.
Lillian was a retired school teacher, retiring from District 189. She taught in several school districts before finding the school she loved in East St. Louis, IL. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Assoc., Engelman Hill Grange, Shiloh Valley Grange, and the First Baptist Church in Mascoutah, IL. She also served in the U. S. Army during World War II as a truck driver.
Lillian loved to make quilts, baby blankets, pot holders and even handkerchiefs for all her family and friends. She was a person that lived by the Golden Rule.
Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, George and Rose, nee Dintelman, Rezba; two brothers, Chester and Willis Rezba; two sisters, Thelma Yanzak, and Hazel Stitley; a granddaughter, and two great-grandsons.
She is survived by her three sons, Joseph (Linda) Collier of Freeburg, IL, Elliot Collier of Madison, WI, and Morris Collier of Mascoutah, IL; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Rufus Rezba of Sparta, IL, Godfrey Rezba of Griggsville, IL, Charles David Rezba of Griggsville, IL, Dr. Benjamin Rezba of Winchester, VA; nieces, nephews, and many friends including her church family.
Memorials may be made to the Baptist Children’s Home, 949 County Rd. 1300N, Carmi, IL 62821.
Visitation: from 4 to 9 PM Tuesday, Mar. 30, 2010 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL, and from 9 to 10 AM Wednesday, Mar. 31, 2010 at the church.
Funeral: funeral services will be held 10 AM Wednesday, Mar. 31, 2010 at Elkton Union Church, Elkton, IL with Pastor Ron Mazander and Pastor Duane Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Elkton Cemetery, Elkton, IL.
