Eleanor A. Thompson, nee Fehmel, 88, of Mascoutah, IL, formerly of Swansea and Belleville, IL, born June 17, 1921 in Belleville, IL, died Wednesday, Apr. 28, 2010 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL.


During WW II Eleanor worked in an ammunition factory in St. Louis, and later dispatched for a cab company in Belleville. She then became an aide at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville, transferring to the information desk at the hospital before retiring.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Maynard J. Thompson, whom she married in Belleville, IL on Aug. 8, 1941, and who died Mar. 26, 1974; her parents, Henry M. and Mary, nee Barnes, Fehmel; and a sister, Marie Roeder.


She is survived by a daughter, Barbara (David) Rennie of Mascoutah, IL, a son, James (Janet) Thompson of Freeburg, IL; five grandchildren, Charles Rennie of Carthage, NY, Kenneth (Terry) Rennie of Mascoutah, IL, Mary (David) Jenkins of Warren, PA, Christy (Scott) Haas of Mascoutah, IL, David (Elisabeth) Thompson of Mascoutah, IL; eleven great grandchildren, Nicole (Timothy) Keough, Charles (Cindy) Rennie, David Rennie, Leslie Rennie, Jamie Rennie, Matthew Jenkins, Daniel Jenkins, Amber and Blake Haas, Megan and Cole Thompson; two great- great grandchildren, Timothy and Deseree Keough; a sister, Irene Flassig of Shiloh, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.


Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois, Inc.


Visitation: Friends may call from 9 AM to 12 Noon Friday, Apr. 30, 2010 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL.


Funeral: Funeral services will be held 12 Noon Friday, Apr. 30, 2010 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL with Pastor Steve Rogier. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
