Catherine P. Behrens

Catherine P. Behrens, nee Waigand, 91, of Mascoutah, IL, born June 1, 1918 in Mascoutah, died Sunday, May 16, 2010 at her residence.


Catherine was a retired receptionist from Dr. P. J. Koesterer where she worked for 23 years, and she also was a part-time secretary for Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah. Catherine was a member of Holy Childhood Catholic Church, Mascoutah; Holy Childhood Council of Catholic Women; past president and member of the Mascoutah American Legion Auxiliary Post 292.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Emil L. Behrens, whom she married in Mascoutah, IL on Apr. 22, 1936, and who died Nov. 7, 1978; parents, Julius W. and Alma, nee Jung, Waigand; two sisters, Betty Paprocki, and Leona Lippert; two brothers-in-law, Jake Lippert, and Charles Paprocki; two nieces, Mary Ann Lippert, and Judy Paprocki; and a nephew, Jim Paprocki.


She is survived by a daughter, Joan Rieger of Charlotte, MI; four grandchildren, Randy (Carol) Morrison of Mascoutah, IL, Rick (Kim) Morrison of Rhome, TX, Lisa (Lee) Boulware of Keyesport, IL, and Lana (Ryan) Karn of Charlotte, MI; eight great-grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.


Memorials may be made to the Holy Childhood School.


Visitation: from 4 to 8 PM Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL. A rosary will be recited at 5:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.


Funeral: a funeral mass will be held 10 AM Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at Holy Childhood Catholic Church in Mascoutah with Msgr. Jerome Hartlein and Deacon Bob Lippert officiating. Burial will be in Holy Childhood Catholic Cemetery.
