Janet R. Twenhafel

Janet R. Twenhafel, nee Kneschke, 71, of Mascoutah, IL, was born Oct. 1, 1939 in Vernon, TX, and died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010 at her residence.


Jan was a retired secretary from Mascoutah School Dist. 19; member of Zion Lutheran Church in Mascoutah, Zion Lutheran Ladies Aid; she was active in the church choir, and member of the church council; delivered for the Meals-on-Wheels program; served on the Board of Concerned Christians; and was a volunteer for NFED.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul G. and Mary, nee Lowke, Kneschke; a brother Murray Kneschke; two brothers-in-law, Russell Klingelhoefer and Willard Twenhafel.


She is survived by her husband, Robert W. Twenhafel whom she married in Mascoutah, IL on June 14, 1958; three children, Kathleen (Keith) Woodward of Wichita, KS, Terry (Beth) Twenhafel of Mascoutah, IL, and Kara (Jake) Simon of St. Louis, MO; four grandchildren, Lauren and Adam Twenhafel of Mascoutah, IL, D. J. Woodward of Wichita, KS, and Mia Rose Simon of St. Louis, MO; a sister, Mary Lou Klingelhoefer of Mascoutah, IL; two sisters-in-law, Marion Kneschke of Mascoutah, IL, and Pearl Twenhafel of New Minden, IL; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.


Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church Building Fund.


Visitation: Visitation will be from 4 to 9 PM Friday, Oct. 29, 2010 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL, and from 9 to 10 AM Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010 at the church.


Funeral: A funeral service will be held at 10 AM Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010 at Zion Lutheran Church with the Rev. Kirk M. Clayton officiating. Burial will be in Mascoutah City Cemetery, Mascoutah, IL.
