Juanita M. Winkler

Juanita Marie Winkler, nee Swader, 90, of Mascoutah, IL, born April 6, 1920 in Flint, MI, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 2010 at the MarKa Nursing Home in Mascoutah, IL.


Juanita and her husband worked hard their whole lives. She was an excellent seamstress and worked for Martha Manning Dress Factory in Mascoutah retiring as a union shop stewardess in 1975 after 25 years of service. Juanita enjoyed sewing, dancing, gardening, flowers, reading, travelling, camping and fishing. She was a former member of the First Baptist Church in Mascoutah.


She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Allen Winkler whom she married on June 2, 1943 and who died Feb. 15, 2001; her mother and stepfather, Laura, nee Barton, and George O’Dell; her father and stepmother, Earl and Eunice Swader; step-brothers and step-sisters.


She is survived by her four children, Kenneth (Marrette) Winkler of Dripping Springs, TX, Leroy Winkler of Lee, FL, Janice (Joe) Haas of Mascoutah, IL, and Joyce (George) Grondin of San Antonio, TX; eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a brother Russell “Rusty” Swader of Mascoutah, IL.


Juanita was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.


Services: In keeping with Juanita’s wishes she will be cremated and there will be no visitation.
