Leslie E. Burgard

Leslie E. Burgard, 85, of Mascoutah, IL, born April 26, 1925 in Fayetteville, IL, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011 at the Grange Nursing Home in Mascoutah, IL.


Leslie was retired from Peabody Coal Company and he had 28 years of service as Commissioner, Chairman Commissioner and Vice Chairman of the Summerfield, Lebanon and Mascoutah Water Commission.


He was a member of St. John U.C.C., Mascoutah and Masonic Lodge #418, Freeburg, IL.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil E. and Rose M., nee Frantz, Burgard, a sister, Ethel Burgard, a brother, Clyde Burgard and a brother-in-law, Kenneth Schadle.


He is survived by his wife, Doris A., nee Ostendorf, Burgard, two sons, Scott (Tammy) Burgard of Gainesville, FL and Brian Burgard of Terre Haute, IN; two granddaughters, Brianna and Cassidy Burgard; a brother, Warren (Jo Ann) Burgard of Urbana, IL; two sisters-in-law, Julie Burgard of Mascoutah, IL and Ruth Schadle of Mascoutah, IL; and nieces and nephews.


Memorials may be made to St. John U.C.C., Mascoutah or Grange Nursing Home, Mascoutah.


Visitation: visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL and from 9 to 10 AM Thursday, Jan. 20 at St. John U.C.C., Mascoutah, IL.


Funeral: funeral services will be held 10 AM Thursday, Jan. 20, 2011 at St. John U.C.C. in Mascoutah with the Rev. Hugh Fitz officiating. Burial will be in Mascoutah City Cemetery.
