David G. "Bubba" Torbush

David G. “Bubba” Torbush, 69, of Mascoutah, IL, born Mar. 4, 1941 in Atlanta, GA, passed away on Monday, Jan. 17, 2011 at his home.


Bubba was a retired Chief Master Sergeant from the US Air Force serving 26 years as an aircraft loadmaster specialist; and was a Vietnam War veteran. After his military career, he worked for Mascoutah School District 19 as a maintenance technician. He was a member of the Professional Loadmasters Assn.; president of the Mascoutah Surface Water Protection District; a member of the Mascoutah Noon Lions Club; and enjoyed playing with friends in the Locust Hills Country Club Thursday afternoon golf league.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Saundra Sue, nee Hobbs, Torbush who he married in Charleston, SC on Sept. 28, 1967 and who died June 12, 2009; his adopted parents, Joe B. and Ruby Lee, nee Lauth, Torbush; his mother, Mary Doris, nee Davis, Torbush; a brother Billy Torbush, and his mother-in-law, Margaret Hobbs.


He is survived by two daughters, Tracie (Joe) Bauer of O’Fallon, IL, and Alicia Bauer and friend David Wright of Mascoutah, IL; six grandchildren, Craig Piazza, Camden, Payton, Christopher, Cody, and Carson Bauer; a brother Bobby (Sue) Torbush of Soddy Daisy, TN; a sister, Mary Lee (Larry) Hendren of Mooresville, NC; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Teresa (Roy) Moore of Atlanta, GA; Charles (Billie) Hobbs of Atlanta, GA, Doug (Brenda) Hobbs of Hopewell, VA, Jimmy (Sue) Hobbs of Lincoln, AL, and Randy (Karen) Hobbs of Roanoke Rapids, NC; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.


In lieu of all other gifts, memorials may be made to DAV (Disabled American Veterans), or to Hospice of Southern Illinois, Inc.


Visitation: Friends may call from 12:00 noon to 5:00 PM Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL.


Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Monday, Jan. 24, 2011 at the Moll Funeral Home with Mike Collins officiating. Burial will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
