James E. Rakers, 79, of Mascoutah, IL, born March 10, 1931 in New Baden, IL died Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Belleville, IL.


Jim was a retired maintenance foreman for the U. S. Army Reserve Centers in Illinois and Missouri and a U. S. Army veteran. He was a member of Holy Childhood Catholic Church, Mascoutah, K of C Council #4380, Mascoutah, and the Holy Name Society.


He was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Gerard Rakers in infancy, his parents, George and Theresa, nee Breiner, Rakers, two sisters, Lorrine Brandmeyer and Lillian Rakers in infancy and a brother, Daniel Rakers.


He is survived by his wife, Jeanette, nee Hummert, Rakers of Mascoutah, IL whom he married in St. Libory, IL on Nov. 22, 1956; four sons, Kevin (Gina) Rakers of Damiansville, IL, Patrick (Patrice) Rakers of Scottsdale, AZ, James G. (Cathy) Rakers of Pinckneyville, IL and Neal (Angie) Rakers of Mascoutah, IL; eight grandchildren, Andrew, Blake, Brandon, Joshua, Michael, Megan, Benjamin and Brady Rakers; a sister, Jane McManemy of O’Fallon, IL; a brother, Marvin (Anita) Rakers of Damiansville, IL; also survived by brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.


Memorials may be made to Holy Childhood Cemetery or Holy Childhood School or in the form of Masses.


Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 9 PM Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL. A prayer service will be held at 5 PM Thursday at the funeral home.


Funeral: A funeral Mass will be held 10 AM Friday, Feb. 11, 2011 at Holy Childhood Catholic Church in Mascoutah with Msgr. Jerome Hartlein officiating. Burial will be in Holy Childhood Catholic Cemetery, Mascoutah, IL.
