Roy H. Emig

Roy H. Emig, 76, of Mascoutah, IL, born Sept.12, 1934 in Mascoutah Township, IL, died Sunday, March 20, 2011 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Belleville, IL.


Roy was a retired farmer; member of St. John United Church of Christ in Mascoutah; St. John UCC Fireside Club; St. Clair County Farm Bureau; St. Clair County FSA chairman; director of Lookingglass Mutual Insurance Co.; AARP; and served in the U. S. Army from 1958 to 1960 and Army Reserves from 1960 to 1964.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Edna, nee Krausz, Emig; a brother, Carl in infancy; his father-in-law, Ralph Press; and brother-in-law, Robert Press.


He is survived by his wife, Barbara Rose, nee Press, Emig who he married in Mascoutah, IL on Nov. 28, 1963; four children, Robert Emig of Belleville, IL, Richard (Wendy) Emig of Mascoutah, IL, Roger (fiancé Jen Renth) Emig of Mascoutah, IL, and Rosemary (Dan) Dodson of New Baden, IL; four grandchildren, Alex and Megan Emig, Alan (Ashlee) Emig, and Adam Emig; a great-grandson, Michael Emig; mother-in-law, Elsie Press of Belleville, IL; two brothers-in-law, David (Sue) Press of Belleville, IL, and Mark (Tami) Press of Belleville, IL; also survived by many cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.


Memorials may be made to St. John United Church of Christ, or to Family Hospice.


Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 9 PM Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL, and from 9 to 10 AM Wednesday, Mar. 23, 2011 at the church.


Funeral: Funeral services will be held 10 AM Wednesday, Mar. 23, 2011 at St. John United Church of Christ, Mascoutah, IL with The Rev. Hugh Fitz officiating. Burial will be in Mascoutah City Cemetery, Mascoutah, IL.
