Norbert W. Jansen

Norbert W. Jansen, 85, of St. Libory, IL, born Aug. 18, 1925 in Breese, IL, died Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at Grange Nursing Home in Mascoutah, IL.


Norbert was a retired civil service employee; member of St. Liborius Catholic Church, St. Libory; member of the American Legion Post 683, St. Libory and a WWII U. S. Army veteran.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Marian C., nee Hummert, Jansen whom he married in St. Libory, IL on Oct. 12, 1948 and who died Nov. 9, 2003, a daughter, Judy Nuernberger, a son, Don Jansen, a grandson, Jonathon Nuernberger, his parents, Joseph A. and Rose B., nee Schmidt, Jansen, two brothers, Edwin and Kenneth Jansen and three sisters, Florence Troesser, Elvira Schaab and Dorothy Jansen.


He is survived by two sons, Jim (Janet) Jansen of New Athens, IL, Dale and (Judy) Jansen of St. Libory, IL; a daughter, Betty Milburn and fiancé Virgil Utnage of Wood River, IL; a son-in-law, Bruce (Nancy) Nuernberger of New Athens, IL; a daughter-in-law, Jeanne Jansen of O’Fallon, IL; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; three brothers, Leroy (Virginia) Jansen of St. Louis, MO, Daniel (Bernadette) Jansen of Okawville, IL, Roger Jansen of Belleville, IL; two sisters, Eleanor (Edward) Parker of Hecker, IL, Rosemary (Andrew) Lintker of Venedy, IL; a brother-in-law, Ray (Dorothy) Hummert of Belleville, IL; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.


Memorials may be made to St. Agatha’s Catholic School, New Athens, IL or in the form of Masses or to the charity of donor’s choice. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting mollfuneralhome.com.


Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 PM Sunday, March 27, 2011 at the Moll Funeral Home in St. Libory, IL. A prayer service will be held at 5 PM Sunday at the funeral home.


Funeral: A funeral Mass will be held 10 AM Monday, March 28, 2011 at St. Liborius Catholic Church in St. Libory with Fr. Stan Konieczny officiating. Burial will be in St. Liborius Catholic Cemetery, St, Libory, IL.
