Elenora A. Schmitz

Elenora A. Schmitz, nee Weilmuenster, 94, of Freeburg, IL formerly of Darmstadt, IL, born Dec. 14, 1916 in Darmstadt, IL died Saturday, June 25, 2011 at Freeburg Care Center where she was a resident for over 11 ½ years.


Elenora was a homemaker, a member of St. Liborius Catholic Church; St. Liborius Council of Catholic Women and the American Legion Auxiliary.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar G. Schmitz whom she married in Panama City, FL Nov. 8, 1942 and who died Feb. 3, 1977, her parents, Adam M. and Elizabeth A., nee Knecht, Weilmuenster, a brother, Edwin Weilmuenster and a sister, Armeta Juenger.


Surviving are two sons, Larry (Marian) Schmitz of St. Libory, IL and Ronald Schmitz of New Athens, IL; a daughter, Sharon (Jerry) Cross of Marissa, IL; six grandchildren, Lisa (Durk) Ervie, David (Kerstin) Schmitz, Aaron and Lauren Schmitz and Nathan and Jon Cross; five great-grandchildren, Hannah, Luke and Ryan Ervie, D. J. Schmitz and Jillian Cross; also survived by a brother-in-law, two sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 PM Tuesday, June 28, 2011 and from 7 to 9:30 AM Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at the Moll Funeral Home in St. Libory, IL. A prayer service will be held at 4 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.


Funeral: A funeral Mass will be held 10 AM Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at St. Liborius Catholic Church in St. Libory with Fr. Stan Konieczny officiating. Burial will follow in St. Liborius Catholic Cemetery, St. Libory, IL.
