Gladys A. Griffin

Gladys A. Griffin, nee Riechmann, 84, of Mascoutah, IL, born May 17, 1927 in Okawville, IL died Friday, Aug. 12, 2011 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Belleville, IL.


Gladys was co-owner of Griffin Construction Company of Mascoutah and a 30 year employee at Santini Plaza, Fort Meyers Beach, FL. She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Mascoutah.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell A. Griffin, Jr. whom she married in Mascoutah, IL March 28, 1945 and who died March 12, 1986, her parents, Alvin and Olinda, nee Meier, Riechmann and a brother, Lester Riechman.


She is survived by two daughters, Carol Griffin-Kolar and husband James of LaGrange, IL, Jeanne Hamann and husband Kent of Mascoutah, IL; three grandchildren, Jennifer Kolar-Burden and husband Matthew of LaGrange Park, IL, Christopher Hamann and Taryn Quitmeyer of New Baden, IL and Matthew Hamann of Mascoutah, IL; three great grandchildren, Samantha Cameron, Jack and Gracie Kolar-Burden; a sister-in-law, Betty Riechman of Smithton, IL; a nephew, J. R. Riechman and many dear friends.


In lieu of all other gifts memorials may be given to American Diabetes Association, 10820 Sunset Office Dr., Suite 220, St. Louis, MO 63127 or Hospice of Southern Illinois, Inc, 305 S. Illinois, Belleville, IL 62220.


Visitation: friends may call from 10 to 12 noon Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011 at St. John United Church of Christ in Mascoutah, IL.


Funeral: a memorial service will be held 12 noon Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011 at St. John United Church of Christ with the Rev. Hugh Fitz officiating.
